Passionate about Tropical North Queensland, Jim is a hardworking local who is fighting for new infrastructure and to protect our way of life. He is committed to building a better future for local residents and is working hard to ensure our region shares in the nation's prosperity. Jim is a practical man from a farming background who recognises the value of a good education. He obtained 2 degrees from the University of Queensland, in Agricultural Science and Economics. Prior to being elected to Parliament, Jim built a career working with farmers and graziers for the Department of Primary Industries and as a consultant in Australia and overseas. He lives in Cairns with his wife Tiffany and daughter Zoe so he understands many of the challenges facing local families. Jim's parliamentary positions include being Chair of the Infrastructure, Transport and Rural and Regional Caucus Committee which works with Ministers on related policies and legislation. He is also a member of the following Parliamentary Committees:
