Doctors' Survey
This survey was undertaken to gain a better understanding of the level of bulk billing in the Cairns region and the size of the Medicare gap payment for individual practices where doctors don't bulk bill patients.

I understand that medical costs can be significant, particularly for low to middle income families and hope the information you find in this survey useful.

The results of this survey do not reflect in any way the level of care or services provided by these doctors' surgeries.

Critically, how comfortable one feels talking with their doctor, their expertise and the level of care and services provided are important when choosing a doctor.

The questions put to local doctors and medical centres include:

  • Do you bulk bill all patients?
  • Under what circumstances do you bulk bill?
  • What is your standard consultation fee?

The fees quoted in this survey are current as of June 2009.
